About Eugenie Teychenné
Eugenie is a violinist, teacher and composer. After completing a Bachelor of Music at Melbourne University, Eugenie worked as a freelance violinist in many professional orchestras, special highlights being performances with the Bolshoi Ballet and the World Stars Ballet on their visits to Australia. She also played in numerous Music Theatre productions such as the Melbourne seasons of Les Misérables as co-leader and The Phantom of the Opera at The Princess Theatre.
Music education has been an important aspect of Eugenie’s life since the day she saw the first touring group of Suzuki students from Japan in the late seventies. She subsequently studied the Suzuki method, and later became a founding member of the Suzuki Association in Melbourne. She remembers the inspiring workshops given by Dr Suzuki during his visits to Australia in those early days with great fondness.
Throughout the eighties, Eugenie worked as assistant to film composer, Bruce Smeaton, in Australia, London and Los Angeles, on a number of feature films which included Fred Schepisi’s Roxanne and Iceman.
Eugenie is composer and author of the Possum books for violin, viola and cello. She currently teaches violin and viola from her home studio in Emerald while continuing to work on her numerous publishing projects.
